LETTER: Camera could do job of officers

Having seen the police camera van on Peafield Lane on several occasions this year, I'm thinking of the cost of officers sitting in this vehicle when they could be used in other areas of upholding the law.

Surely they realise that when motorists see there is a police camera van, they flash each others to slow down.

So in fact there is never a true figure of offenders.
My husband and I walk this route most days.

I would say that 80 per cent go over the speed limit on that part indicated by the speed notice apparatus that is there.

Would it not be better to just install a speed camera and save money on the expense of officers sitting in these vehicles?
