FAMILIES in Mansfied are being given help to beat the blues during Depression Awareness Week.
Disadvantaged and vulnerable families, many of which have a parent suffering from mental health or wellbeing problems, can get support from Family Action West Mansfield.
As well as operating local children’s centres, Family Action runs a perinatal support service which provides support to local mums and their families who may be suffering from mild to moderate mental health issues during and up to one year after pregnancy.
Family Action is also campaigning for better services and welfare support for parents with mental health difficulties.
Julie Smith, Family Action West Mansfield perinatal support service project manager, said: “With one in four of us likely to suffer a mental health problem in our lifetime, good mental health and well being is everybody’s business.
“We work with families helping them achieve positive mental health and wellbeing.
“Depression Awareness Week is an opportunity for us to highlight this work and encourage people to seek help to beat the blues if they’re feeling low.”
