Leen Mills set to support police riders

P.C's Rich Naylor, left and Dave Dennis who are joining colleagues for a 165 mile cycle ride in aid of the City Hospital and Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice and are being backed by pupils from the Leen Mills Schools in Hucknall, who are doing their bit with non-uniform day organised by the School Council.

The school got involved through one of its parents, a serving police officer, who is taking part in the cycle challenge.

Tour de Force 2014 involves over 20 riders from Nottinghamshire Police cycling 165 miles around the county visiting as many major police stations as possible in 24 hours.

Police officer, Dave Dennis, whose children attend the school, is one of the riders and asked if the school would get behind the challenge and they agreed to hold a non-uniform day.

All monies will go to support Nottingham Hospitals Charity (Breast Cancer Research Appeal) and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in Dinnington.

“I’m delighted the school has agreed to help,” said Dave who is based at Broxtowe. “I’ve never done anything like this before but I’m looking forward to it.

“We are all very determined to do it. I just hope we all make it ok without any incident.”

There will also be an elite team who are hoping to complete the same route in 12 hours resulting in both teams joining together at Colwick Racecourse at 4pm on 21st June in preparation for the final push.

Dave added: “At this stage we invite friends, family, colleagues and anyone else who would like to show their support to join us for the final ride in.”
