And as his band Lawson are set to release their latest single ‘Money’, the guitarist says he will definitely be calling home to see his friends and family.

The 25-year-old former Joseph Whitaker student formed the band with his Chesterfield friend, bassist Ryan Fletcher, along with singer Andy Brown and drummer Adam Pitts, in 2009.

They have recently come back from a round-the-world tour and during their rise to fame, have supported the likes of Robbie Williams, Bon Jovi and Will Young.

And although Joel is loving the rock-star lifestyle, he says he definitely won’t be forgetting where he came from.

He said: “I love Mansfield, it’s great.

“It’s just home to me, where everything goes back to normal.

“We went from touring the whole of Australia and New Zealand with Robbie Williams to coming back to Mansfield and seeing all my family, it’s bizarre.”

Since the band made their debut, they have had several top-ten hits, a hit album, and performed at two sell-out shows at Wembley.

So it’s no surprise that Joel says he sometimes needs a balance for the “crazy, wild, dream-come-true” lifestyle.

“Sometimes it’s just nice to be home,” he added.

But now the group are bracing themselves for their next big pop-rock hit, ‘Money’, which lead singer Andy wrote and described as a “banger”.

It is set to be released on Friday, March 18.
