Langwith woman tells all after appearing on Emmerdale

Finally getting back to acting a Langwith woman who took time out to take care of her mum who had cancer tells your Chad about acting on the set of Emmerdale.

Cara Middleton who has been acting since she was 14 said working on the soap based in the Yorkshire Dales was "amazing".

The 29-year-old played a character called Thelma who was getting ready at Beauty & Bernice for her hen do.

Cara from The Wood, Langwith, said: "You can't really talk too much about being on set, but everyone made you feel comfortable.

"My character was getting married to someone called Steve who I think had a bit of money and she thought she wore the trousers in that relationship.

"I was with Samantha (Bernice) she was doing my hair, told her she could do that all day.

"It was amazing and quite intimidating at first I had been out of it for a year I was sat at the front of the set as I looked forward there were cameras and a load of people behind them.

"I thought, 'oh my god,' do not mess up."

"It is nerve-racking but that is what I do once you have done it one you are alright."

Cara took time out from acting after her mum Diane Middleton was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in January last year.

Now in remission, Cara is "easing back into" acting around her job at King's Mill Hospital where she has worked on the trauma and orthopaedics wards for the last nine years.

Cara appeared in a two-parter which the first showing went out on April 5.

Cara said: "At the same time as taking a step back I was going through loads of auditions for Hollyoaks, so I am still waiting on them.

"I don't know what is going to happen with Emmerdale they have called me in a few times, I know they really like me its just seeing where they were going to place me in the program.

Cara said she got into acting after her granddad asked her aged 14, what she wanted to do when she grew up.

She said: "I don't even know why I said acting, I don't know where I got that from.

"So my granddad took me to Ollerton, he'd found out the Regal Theater at Worksop were auditioning for a show at Mansfield Palace Theater.

"I didn't the extent of what I was going to have to do that day, I had to write a script for a monologue piece to be performed that night. I had never done any acting in my life.

"I got through and from then on was in the group, doing tours all over the country."

After leaving Shirebrook Academy Cara moved to West Notts College, she said: "I didn't want to go to university, I wanted to get out and do it not realising how difficult it would be.

Cara then trained in Bolton, Manchester, London and LA, which she said was "one of the best experiences."

Cara is also set to star as Robin Hood, which goes into the story behind the Sherwood Forest hero.

Filming starts in May, and Cara is set to play 'Morgana' who casts spells, she said: "I can't wait, people just think I can speak Latin but I do get cast in a lot of Latin-speaking roles."

In the future Cara said she "just wanna be acting full time I'm ready to leave, I have trained for a long time."
