Kirkby woman breached court ban to confront girlfriend

Kerri Gemma Commins, 26, of Farm View Road, admitted breaching the restraining order which banned her from the address on Southwell Close on March 19.

The court heard that Commins had been told the woman had finished the relationship, and went to the address to retrieve an engagement ring and other gifts.

Police were called and found Commins sobbing in an alley behind the house.

Tom Oates, mitigating, said: “The restraining order was made on April 29 last year after allegations of harassment towards her on-off partner.”

The order was later changed when the couple reconciled, but the ban still applied to the address where the woman’s family live.

“Since then they have been in a relationship,” said Mr Oates. “They have been communicating by phone and everything seemed OK.

“She went down to the address to confront her partner and see if this was true.

“Miss Commins accepts she has a difficulty with emotional control and she then does stupid things.”

Magistrates handed her a six month community order with 12 days of a rehabilitation activity requirement.

She was banned from Southwell Close and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60.
