Kirkby teens in line for national award

KIRKBY teenagers who took part in the Government’s National Citizen Service scheme in the summer have been shortlisted for an award.

They have been nominated for an award in the Best Film or Multimedia category for their film entitled Get in!, which highlights the perceptions of youngsters in the community and showcases projects in which teenagers can get involved.

The project, which took place in the school holidays, was delivered in Nottinghamshire by the Catch22 NCS Partnership.

Princess Anne will present the awards at a ceremony in London today.

It will be hosted by Radio 1 DJ Reggie Yates and attended by Minister for Children Tim Loughton.

The Catch22 NCS Partnership provides 15 and 16 year- olds with a voluntary, personal and social development programme.

Ashfield MP Gloria De Piero said: “I actually had the pleasure of meeting with them and got the chance to take part in their project earlier this year and was very impressed with everyone involved.”
