A GROUP of Kirkby singers have wowed judges in the auditions of a national competition - and will now go through to the regional finals at Sheffield City Hall on 21st August.

Girl group Bella, whose members include Lucy Allen (22), 16-year-old Lizzie Parsons and Becky Gregory (19), competed against thousands of hopefuls before impressing the panel with their renditions of songs by pop singer Adele at the Open Mic UK 2011 auditions.

Lizzie has also qualified as a soloist in the 16 years and under category.

The girls will now be competing for a place in national final at London’s 02 Arena, with the chance to secure a recording contract.

They met while they were pupils at Ashfield School and sang in the choir, as well as in musical ensembles.

Lucy is now studying at the Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Lizzie - who has just completed her GCSEs at Ashfield School - is going to New College Nottingham to study Musical Theatre and Becky is studying social work at Sheffield Hallam University.

Meanwhile, the talented trio are also set to travel to Kirkby’s twin town Ronchin in France for a visit organised by the Kirkby Rotary Club.

The Open Mic competition is open to singers, singer/songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres who perform either covers or originals.
