KIRKBY girl group Bella are gearing up for the biggest gig of their fledgling music careers with the final of the Open Mic UK 2011 competition on Saturday.
The trio - which comprises of Jessica Heap (17), Lucy Allen (22) and Lizzie Parsons (17) - will be performing at London’s O2 Arena and are competing for a professional recording contract worth up to £30,000, as well as to be Open Mic UK winners.
The girls have already beaten off competition from thousands of other acts to get through to this stage of the contest, which is searching for the UK’s best singers, singer/songwriters, rappers and vocalists who perform covers or original material.
They impressed the judges at the first auditions, before making it through both an area final and a regional final - where, pictured right, they performed a version of the Oasis classic ‘Stop Crying Your Heart Out’.
In the final, Bella will be singing in front of guests from record labels, agencies and the entertainment industry, as well as judges from BBC Introducing, radio and the press.
And they are hoping to secure support from Ashfield folk, who can vote for them to win by texting open78 to 86222.
