KIRKBY: Police hunt store raiders

Police are hunting two men who tried to rob an off licence in Kirkby yesterday.

The raid happened at around 8.35pm on Monday 18th November in Park Street.

The men, who wore masks, demanded money from the till and threatened the shop keeper with a metal pole. The pole was then used to hit the shop keeper who has suffered a broken hand as a result.

No money was taken and the offenders made off in a grey or silver coloured family-sized car.

Both men are slim and thought to be in their 20s. One was wearing a grey jumper.

Police are asking for anyone with any information about the attempted robbery to come forward.

Detective Inspector Rich Monk said: “This was clearly planned and is being treated very seriously.

“The offenders came armed with a weapon and were not afraid to use violence during the attempted robbery.

“Did you see the car outside the shop last night? Have you noticed any unusual activity in the past few days? Do you know who could be responsible? If you think you have information that could help our investigation please get in touch.”
