Kirkby firm staff go back to school to create a whole new world for Berry Hill nursery pupils
Berry Hill Primary School welcomed employees from TTS Group Ltd in the middle of the summer holidays to help improve an area of the school grounds.
This is the third time TTS has helped the school clear an area of rough ground, this time creating an outdoor learning space for Berry Hill’s youngest pupils in the nursery class.
The five TTS team members spent all day clearing brambles, nettles and weeds from a space that had become overgrown.
They removed an old picnic bench that was completely covered with ivy and also cleared ivy from the fencing.
Sarah Woods, a nursery teacher at the school, said: “ This space was going to cost the school £9,000 to get cleared by a professional ground maintenance company.
“So the impact the TTS team has made is amazing.
“Mansfield Council also played a role by taking away some of the waste vegetation.”
The initiative continues to support the school’s drive to improve the grounds and has improved a space that can now be further developed by the nursery team, to increase the school’s outdoor play provision.
TTS undertakes team challenges in local schools in the community, as it is a local educational resource company based in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
The company says team challenge days focus not just on creating something positive within the local community, but also focus on the generation of team spirit between the staff who attend on the day.
Miss Woods continued: “I am very grateful to TTS for allowing their staff to take time out of their working week to come and help us.
“I also want to thank the team of five people who worked extremely hard clearing weeds, cutting undergrowth back and helping clear our outdoor area.
“I cannot believe what they achieved in one day
“The children and staff are very pleased to be able to use this new space.
“I have many plans to put into place, developing how we use it”
Matt Gull, European account manager for TTS Group Ltd, added: “The whole team thoroughly enjoyed the experience but we were tired at the end of the day.
“We are really pleased with the considerable impact we have made to the nursery unit site and look forward to seeing it develop over the coming months as the school is able to put its plans into action.”
