Inner Wheel - At the recent February meeting President Jean Toseland was pleased to welcome two new members Chris Quinn-Wilcox and Sita Tunstall. President Jean then presented Jean Moulson with a certificate marking her 40 years of service to Inner Wheel. Mrs Moulson has been the Association President, past District Chairman and Club President during her years of service. Speaker Denis Robinson gave an insight into the world of journalism. Mr Robinson worked for the Hucknall and Bulwell Dispatch. The next meeting will be on 10th March.

Church of Christ - Denis Faulks led the morning meeting on Sunday week. Tom King read from the Old Testament. The New Testament reader was David Wilson. Rex Foster served communion. The leader of the evening service and speaker was Geoff Sheldon.

50 Plus - Amy Butler welcomed members to Monday week’s meeting at the Brownsea Centre. Maureen Coupe received birthday greetings. Tea hostesses were Janet Ellis, Joan Fishburn and Doreen Florence. Joan Collishaw and Amy Butler then led a game of charades.

Our Lady RC Church - Father F. Higgins led mass on Sunday week. Bible reading was by Kirsten McPherson. Delia McGibbon, Gloria Palmer, David Shipley, Jim Turton and Jerry Herrington served communion. John Fejfer and Rex Clarke took the collection. Music was by Maranatha. The offertory procession members were Molly and Sue Tucker, Louise and Scott Nottingham, Megan McPherson and Delia McGibbon. Karen Farrar and Sheila Thompson served coffee in aid of parish funds.

Evergreens - Glenys Williams and Joyce Shepherd served lunches on Monday week. Len Fox entertained with well known tunes on the organ. At the afternoon bingo session a new player was welcomed – new players are always welcome and do not have to be centre members. Carpet bowls was played on Tuesday week. A line and sequence dance was held on Thursday week. Friday week’s St Valentine’s dance featured roses, cupcakes and heart shaped chocolates for the spot waltz prize which was won by Joan and Phyllis Cousins. Music for both events was by Walter Jones and Joan Peel.

7 C’s Christian Fellowship - David Holloway, Mark Roxburgh and David Thorpe led worship on Sunday week. Pastor Maurice England and Tracey Buxton delivered communion. The Pastor also gave the address.

Friends of the Salvation Army - Due to the school holidays members took a shared lunch at the Duke of Wellington.

Trinity Methodist Church - Hosted a Brownie meeting on Monday week. The DVD Fitness class also met. Kirkby Churches Together held early prayers on Tuesday week. Surestart Messy Play also met. ‘Hetty’s Advice’ for drug- related issues is held 10.00am – noon every Tuesday. Jo Makins led the Tuesday Fellowship. A crochet class meets from 1pm until 3pm in the afternoon. Rev Mick Dilley celebrated Holy Communion on Wednesday week. The charity Framework holds an advice session from 12noon till 1.00pm every Wednesday. The Mother and Toddler group met on Thursday week. The knitting group also meets 10.30 till 11.30 on Thursdays. Thursday week’s Luncheon club was followed by the Open Hands friendship group who held a Valentine special. My Sight for the visually impaired meets from 1.00 till 4.00 pm on Thursdays. Kirkby Churches Together held early prayers on Saturday week before Healing in the Street. Joy Jennison led Sunday week’s service. John Hickling was church steward. Door stewards were Irene and Keith Shirley. Margaret Hensby led Family Time and prayers. Mike Oliver and Sarah Copeland-Davies performed a drama. Stuart Spyby and Gladys Bennett collected the offering. The media suite was manned by Christine Nuttall and Mike Oliver. Lynn Fairbrother and Sharon Lee served morning coffee in aid of the Junior Methodist Association. Jean Wykes donated church flowers.

Forest Street Baptist Church - Art and Keep Fit classes met on Tuesday week. Rev Ros Wilkes led Sunday week’s Holy Communion. Servers were Denis Gregory and Ray Forrest. During communion Mr Forrest extended the right hand of Fellowship welcoming Dennis and Helen Wilkes into church membership. Sue Sayer read the lesson. Pat pride and Jane Brierley served morning coffee. Rev Dr Andrew Howe of Arnold took the evening meeting. The reader was Neil Pointer. Musicians for the day were Margaret and Doreen Homer. Last Monday Denis Gregory organised a train trip and lunch in Worksop. Maureen Osborne opened the Ladies Fellowship with devotions, introducing speaker retired minister Rev John Comins. Margaret Homer served refreshments. The pianist was Doris Hickton.

Spiritualist Church - Sue Hardy chaired Sunday week’s divine service. The speaker was Caroline Allsop of Mansfield. Sandra Downes gave Monday week’s demonstration of clairvoyance chaired by Diane Martin. Janet Julian and Gary Price delivered healing. Tuesday week’s awareness class was taken by church ladies.

Hill Methodist Church - The Genesis youth group met at the Hill on Monday week. On Tuesday week the Hill preachers attended a circuit meeting held at South Normanton Methodist Church. Wednesday week’s Mother and Toddler group was followed by the Wednesday Fellowship led by Margaret Hensby. Betty Grice played the organ. There was a committee meeting in the evening. The Dance group rehearsed on Thursday week. Rev Mick Dilly chaired a Church Council meeting in the evening. The Prayer group met on Saturday week. Trevor Lee led Sunday week’s morning service. Readers were Ian Fox and Joy Franks. Music was by the Worship group. The evening service was led by Rev Michael Feast. Joyce Bradshaw read the lesson. The organist was Joy Franks.
