Our Lady RC Church - Sunday week’s mass was by Father F. Higgins. Kirsten McPherson read the lesson. Communion was served by Mary Clare Endy, Molly Beardsley, Alison Fawley, Jim Turton and Andrew O’Mara-Winson. Music was by Maranatha. Rex Clarke and John Fejfer took the collection. Members of the offertory procession were Ria and Vidya Johnson, Marie Thompson, Isabella Taylor and Charlie Nottingham. Cath Moulton served coffee for parish funds.

Church Christ - Geoff Ellis led Sunday week’s morning meeting. Eric Faulks read from the Old Testament and also spoke. The New Testament reader was Rex Foster who also served communion. Roger Longden led the evening meeting introducing guest speaker Ken Mullan of Ilkeston.

Trinity Methodists - The Forget Me Not dementia group met on Monday week. The Brownies met in the evening as did the DVD Fitness Class. Computer classes were held on Monday and Tuesday week. Kirkby Churches Together held early prayers on Tuesday week. Sure Start Messy Play followed. Maureen Shilling led the Tuesday Fellowship. The crochet group then met. Framework held advice sessions on Wednesday week. Thursday week’s Mother and Toddler session was followed by the Lunch club and Open Hands friendship group who had a quiz. A Home group met in the evening. Churches Together held Saturday prayers before Healing in the Street. Rev Michael Feast led Sunday week’s Holy Communion assisted by Mike Oliver who also manned the media desk. Christine Nuthall was church steward. The door steward was Jo Makins. Communion Steward was Carole Taylor. Margaret Thorpe and Christine Nuthall both read. Rev Barry and Mrs Nancy Shipley took the offering. Beryl Richardson led family time. The organist was Faye Shackleton. Jenny Wilcock donated church flowers. Barbara Smith served coffee in aid of the Rainbows Hospice.

7 C’s Christian Fellowship - Pastor Maurice England introduced special guest Terry Charker from Christians Against Poverty, a charity dedicated to helping turn round lives blighted by debt. Currently over 20,000 church’s support the organisation. Communion was led by Pastor England and Glenys Holloway. Betty England led Faith Builder.

Hill Methodist Church - The Genesis youth group met on Monday week. Lunches were served on Tuesday week. Wednesday week’s Mother and Toddler group were followed by the Wednesday Fellowship. Joy Franks chaired the meeting. The speaker was Alan Stone. Betty Grice played the organ. Paul and Karen Grice hosted the Friday Fellowship. The Prayer group met on Saturday week. Rev Mick Dilley assisted by the Worship group celebrated Holy Communion on Sunday week. The readers were Barrie Smith and Karen Grice. Harry Smith of South Normanton took the evening service. Alan Stone and John Grice both read. The organist was Betty Grice.

Forest Street Baptist Church - Art and Keep Fit classes met on Tuesday week. There was a Church Deacons meeting on Wednesday week. Pastor Derek Smith of Arnold led the morning service on Sunday week. Neil Painter read the lesson. Mr and Mrs J. Hardy served morning coffee. Music was by Doreen and Margaret Homer. In the afternoon Rev Ros Wilkes and helpers organised a Messy Church play session. Light refreshments were then served.

ST Thomas Church - Reader Chris Manning led Wednesday week’s morning prayers. The study group then met followed by a shared lunch. A carers and toddlers session took place in the afternoon. Rev Neil Popham celebrated Holy Communion on Sunday week. Reader Chris Manning assisted and gave the address. Readings and prayers were by John Cook. Pauline Howlett and Sophia Popham led children’s activities. Doreen Dickens played the piano. Rick and Mary Colley with Eve and Harry Shooter presented the elements. The chalice was administered by Sandy Edwards-Walsh. Pauline Russ and Pat Cook served refreshments. Members of the congregation supported a joint service with St Wilfrids church in the evening.

Spiritualist Church - On Sat 24th May Heather Julian and Kevin Bacon celebrated their wedding at the church. Diane Martin was speaker for Sunday week’s informal service chaired by Sue Hardy. The church was closed bank holiday Monday. Committee members led Tuesday week’s awareness class.
