Southwell parents Katy and Sam Saunders were delighted when little Alexander William Saunders arrived, at 2.50pm, weighing 7lbs 6oz.

Alexander was due on Christmas Eve, so the family knew they would be expecting a Christmas baby.

Proud mum Katy, of Dornoch Avenue, said she was ecstatic.

She said: “It was absolutely brilliant. It was the best Christmas present I could have wished for. He is such a little sweetheart.”

The couple had not found out the sex of their baby - so were excited to have a little brother for their daughter, 17-month-old Jessica,

They named the new addition to their family after Sam’s grandfather.

She said: “We always knew if we had a boy we would name him Alexander.”

Rory was due on the 15th December, so was 10 days late.

Rowan, of Will Scarlett Close added: “We all thought he was going to be born much earlier so we had an early Christmas in November with our friends and family.

“It worked out nicely though.”
