Leah-Allison Biggin, of Laurel Close is having 10-12 inches shorn off in aid of veterans’ charity SSAFA and Angel Children.

The kind-hearted schoolgirl decided she had to do something for traumatised soldiers after hearing how her Uncle Lee had taken his own life 15 years ago, after suffering the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder.

Her mother, Kate (30), said: “SSAFA is brilliant for helping with counselling - unfortunately for Lee there was nothing like that at the time.

“He plodded on but it became too much for him.”

Leah-Allison is also fundraising for Angel Children - a charity which helps pay for children’s funeral costs.

The charity is organising a Halloween disco to raise money for that of Oak Tree estate teenager Ciaran Sweeney, who was tragically found dead at a Mansfield quarry this month after going missing.

Leah is going under the scissors at Genesis Hair Salon, Shirebrook, on 25th October.

“Said Kate: “She is a little bit nervous but said ‘my hair will grow back, mum. She has an old head on her shoulders.”

Leah-Allison is guest of honour at the Halloween disco at Urban Social Club, Kirkby, on 25th October at 7pm.

There will also be fancy dress, a raffle, and boy band Vintage Sound Machine will be performing. Tickets are £5.
