John Hamnett, a director A1 Flue Systems, reached the top of the highest peak in Africa.
His charity trek has boosted the coffers of Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity to the tune of £5,004.44 and of the William Stones Trust Fund by £2,684.44.
He said the visit was a humbling experience and in some ways much harder than the 19,300 ft. climb to the top of the mountain, which took five days of trekking between 12 and 20 hours each day.
“The euphoria of reaching the top of Mount Kilimanjaro is an achievement that will live with me forever, but having a tour of Weston Park and seeing how my achievements will help individuals and families who have been affected by cancer is on a par with it,” said John.
Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity Fundraiser, Sarah Cross said, “John has raised an incredible amount of money for the cancer charity and has helped support thousands of cancer patients across our region.”
