A young Mansfield musician is hoping to win a major Blues award and he needs your help

Benjamin Bassford, 23 an accoustic guitar whizz and talented singer wongwriter has been honoured with two nominations for the 2018 U.K Blues Awards (Best Acoustic Artist of the Year/Young Artist of the Year).

Benjamin from Rainworth has just recordeed his debut album ‘Benjamin Bassford’.

Recorded in the curated wilderness of his family garden, he describes the tracks as an intimate soundscape.

He said: “It adds an atmosphere when you can hear natural sounds like bird song.”

There will be a launch event at The Doroth Pax at Victoria Quays in Sheffield on Friday April 6 at 7pm

Benjamin cites has a wide range of influences from Tom Waits and American slide guitarist Kelly Jo Phelps to old blues artists like Big Boy Henry.

He said: “I used to play at the folk club in Mansfield and I found myself moving more into accousitc blues and roots and slide guitar.”

He has played more than 70 gigs in the past 12 months alone. He will play adebut set at the legendary London venue Ronnie Scotts on March 6.
