Fundraisers in Rainworth have boosted vital air ambulance funds by raising more than £1,400 for the volunteer-run charity.

As part of the Chad’s massive campaign to raise £300,000 for the Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Air Ambulance over the next 12 months, the Rainworth group have joined the Chad’s appeal to keep the Air Ambulance flying.

The fundraising night at Rainworth Miner’s Welfare Club on 20th September saw locals enjoy a raffle, tombola and disco .

Matt Allen, who has organised the Rainworth charity events with his wife Julie and Steve Toplin, said: “Although the night wasn’t as big as we hoped, we raised £1,497 for the Air Ambulance.

“We want to say a big thank you to all the local people and businesses that donated and helped us to do that.

“Tesco, The Co-op and Junction Fish Bar all donated generously.”

Mr Allen along with 15 others also took part in a charity walk on 16th August as part of fundraising efforts in the lead up to the fundraiser night.

So far the total raised for the Air Ambulance stands at £1,923.90.

But a spokesman for the Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Air Ambulance said it is expected more money raised from the Rainworth fundraising night is yet to come in.

The Air Ambulance carries out around 300 rescue operations in Nottinghamshire each year and runs solely on donations.

Chad is asking readers to once again dig deep and help to the Air Ambulance continue to take to the skies.

Based at RAF Waddington, near Lincoln, and unaffected by congestion, country roads, heavy vehicles or road works, the helicopter can reach any destination in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire in 19 minutes.

The volunteers rely solely on donations and need to raise £1.8 million to fly the helicopter each year.

Following on from the success of our last campaign to help raise £750,000 for a brand new MRI scanner at King’s Mill Hospital, Chad wants to ask its caring readers to help the dedicated team of paramedics save up to 300 lives across Nottinghamshire over the next 12 months.

We are again urging businesses, residents and fundraising groups to continue their fantastic work and help give our community another massive boost.
