He had been pursued by officers from Eakring Road after driving through their traffic checks.

As well as the 14-month prison sentence, Wilson was disqualified from driving for three years and seven months with a re-test requirement.

PC Phil Broughton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Clearly Wilson had something to hide when he failed to stop for our checks and it is completely irresponsible to drive in this dangerous manner which could have resulted in serious injury or worse.

“We hope this sends the message out that driving offences are taken extremely seriously because of the risk they pose to innocent members of the public.

“We will continue to carry out regular checks and any drivers found to breaking the law will be dealt with accordingly.”
