It's official '“ Top Fryer is Chad's top chippy
And Teyfik Marasli is feeling particularly chipper having only taken over Top Fryer, on The Oval, Sutton, at Christmas.
The 75-year-old, who also won the title 25 years ago while running Mr Chips in Shirebrook, said: “I could not be happier. I am shocked to win, although I had a feeling we’d do quite well. I am very proud of it.”

Hide AdTeyfik took over Top Fryer at Christmas with his wife Ann, aged 59, who puts their success down to “hard work and determination” from all the staff, including full-time assistant Abbie Wilson, 20, of Sutton, and her mum Mary.
Teyfik said: “I retired a year ago, but got bored and this one came up.”
Teyfik said he had worked in the business all his life, originally in Croydon, before moving to the area in 1989, where businesses he has run include Mr Chips and Trawlers’ Catch in Creswell.
He said: “We have put a lot of effort in to build Top Fryer up.

Hide Ad“We have quite a lot of loyal, local customers, who have supported us and all my staff have put great effort in.
“I like to cook everything fresh and my customers love coming here and having a chat while they are waiting.”
Second place went to Model Chippy, Colonade, Field Drive, Shirebrook, while Papa’s Fish Bar, Ravendale Road, Mansfield was third.
Also reaching the final 10 were Mansfield chippies Barn Lane, on Crown Street, Barracuda, on Sutton Road, Nick’s, on Chesterfield Road North, and Sue’s on Skerry Hill, as well as Alexander the Great, Derby Road, Kirkby.
Completing the top 10 were Warsop duo Warsop Fish Bar, on High Street, and Windmill Fish Bar, on Sherwood Street.
