An investigation has now been launched into how a huge blaze at a farm in Forest Town was started this morning.

Appliances from no fewer than 10 station were in attendance at Newlands Farm for the blaze which led to surrounding roads being closed off for almost seven hours.

Fire crews from Mansfield, Ashfield, Edwinstowe, Blidworth, Warsop, Hucknall, Stapleford, Arnold, Stockhill and Highfields were called into action for the barn blaze.

They were forced to remove explosive gas cylinders and had to deal with ‘high hazardous asbestos’.

They used foam, hose reel jets and no fewer than 10 breathing apparatus to bring it under control by just after 1pm.

The roads re-opened by 1.30pm.
