Police have cordoned off Tall Trees Caravan Park, an established residential park on the edge of Mansfield at Forest Town

Ann Worthington, from Newtondale Avenue, said: “Oh my goodness that is so shocking, I only live around the corner from here and we walk past the park every day.

Knowing two people have died has brought a tingle down my spine no matter how they died.

“I’m actually shocked you very rarely hear of anything like this happening in Mansfield.

“You can walk through town and see people on that spice drug who look like they are dead, but it’s scary to think two people have actually died.”

An anonymous resident who lives on a nearby street said: “It is a bit weird as this is usually quite a quiet area and everyone pretty much keeps themselves to themselves.

“We had the event with the two bodies around the corner a few years ago which was also a shock, and it is hard to believe two more bodies have been found so close to my house.

“I thought the people who live in the caravan park were mostly old people but clearly something is going on there - I just hope everyone else is okay.”

Danny Allison, 32, a dog walker from Forest Town, said: “To be honest I thought it was a very quiet area as I take my dogs for a walk down the Maun Valley Trail all the time and have never had much trouble walking past.

“I know we do not know how the two people died at the minute, but it is still quite a shock to hear that two people have died in Forest Town.”

Councillor Vaughan Hopewell said: “I’m saddened to hear of the news and hopefully the police investigation will continue and reveal the cause.”

Coun Mick Barton added: “It’s very tragic that this has happened in a nice, quiet area. It’s come as a shock to everyone, these things thankfully don’t happen often especially not in such an idyllic part of Forest Town. My thoughts go out to the families of those involved.”
