Insp Nick Butler column: Significant arrests see results in Hucknall

Well it’s good to report some positive news in what has been a very challenging time over the past 12 months.

I am pleased to say that the significant arrests we have made over recent months has now resulted in the house burglary offences abating significantly.

I believe this is as a direct result of the people being put back behind bars but we couldn’t have done this without your help.

Recently, we received a call from a member of the public stating she had seen a man hiding a carrier bag in some bushes near to a shop.

My officers were on the scene within 60 seconds and the man was located along with a carrier back contained very expensive jewellery.

He couldn’t account for this so was arrested. A short time later a burglary was reported around the corner and we were able to reunite the jewellery with its owner and inform them that we had a suspect in custody.

This man is now in prison awaiting trial. This isn’t a one off and it’s the kind of work that takes place on a daily basis.

Whenever I am asked about Partnership working the first partner I always think of is you.

We need your support and please let us know if something doesn’t look quite right as it may just result in the type of arrest I’ve just mentioned. Remember burglars don’t wear striped jumpers and don’t always carry bags.
