Injured woman cut from car after six-vehicle collision left her trapped

An injured woman had to be cut free from her car after a six-vehicle collision in Chesterfield yesterday (December 6).

Emergency services were called to the accident, which took place on the A617, between Horns Bridge and Temple Normanton at about 4.30pm.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service had to remove the side of a vehicle after a female became trapped due to her injuries.

A fire service spokesman said she was then taken straight to hospital in an ambulance.

Fire and rescue crews from Chesterfield, Clay Cross and Staveley were called to the incident, as well as the police and the ambulance service.

The scene was clear by 5.30pm but the incident caused a back-log of traffic throughout the area.
