"I was in a different county"  - Ollerton cabbie fuming at two hours McDonald's parking ticket

Mark Holmshaw, of Harrow Lane, Ollerton, works for Sutton taxi company Pirate Cars, was outraged when he given a penalty charge notice for staying in the McDonald's car park on Priestsic Road for two hours 23 minutes.

Luckily for the 51-year-old, who said he did not stay in the car park that long, Pirate Cars records trips its drivers make.

The records revealed that Mr Holmshaw made six trips - even going to Alfreton, while UKPC, the company that manages car parking on behalf of the restaurant, has him recorded as parked.

UKPC use automatic number plate recognition as a way of regulating car park users.

Mr Holmshaw, who said he must have made two trips to the restaurant that day, said he can't remember why he visited, but has said that he has never spent that long in a McDonald's.

The former Clipstone Colliery miner, said: "I don't even like their food - if it was a ticket for Burger King I would have understood.

"I obviously went in for a drink or to use the toilet.

"I would love to know how I can do several jobs and be in the car park at the same time - I mean I was in a different county."

Mr Holmshaw came to your Chad after we ran a story about a Rainworth mum who was slapped with a £50 parking fine after taking her children to the McDonald's near King's Mill hospital.

Mr Holmshaw said he is going to appeal the ticket.

He said: "I feel like they have fixed it- sending me a picture of me coming in and out but ignoring me going out and coming back in."

"I'm not wasting my hard earned cash on something that I have not done. I'm no fool."

UKPC and McDonald's have been approached for comment.
