Hunt for fallen soldier’s family

THE Mansfield Heroes Memorial group, which has been raising money over the past 18 months to create a new memorial honouring the district’s fallen servicemen since World Ward II, is searching for a relative of one particular soldier.

Lieutenant Keith Walter Eastgate (22), of the Royal Engineers, died in the Korean War on Sunday 23rd April, 1951.

He is one of seven names that will be on the memorial when it is completed at Carr Bank Park in Mansfield later this year, but organisers want to find his niece Elizabeth Clarkson so that she can be part of a stone-laying service service.

Anyone who knows Miss Clarkson should contact Graham Parker from the Mansfield Heroes Memorial Fund on 638023.
