Hucknall’s Lovelace Theatre prepares for Importance of Being Earnest

Following the success of its sell-out pantomime, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid, the company will be hoping for further joy with Oscar Wilde’s Victorian classic The Importance of Being Earnest.

Rebecca Morris is directing this classic which was first performed in London in 1895 and satires the etiquette and concerns of late Victorian society.

“ Earnest” represents a real challenge for Lovelace and a cast of just nine performers will be hoping to impress.

Tom Morley and Richard Sparks take on the principal male roles of John Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff while Jess Wall and Angela Pushpa-Rajah are cast in the demanding female roles of Gwendoline Fairfax and Cecily Cardew.

Stalwart performer Bernie Kirk is cast in the plum role as the formidable Lady Bracknell ( a handbag!).

Completing a talented line-up of performers will be Vicki Clark (Miss Prism), Frank Burbage (Lane the Manservant), Daniel Knight ( Dr.Chasuble) and Ed Turner who plays Merriman the Butler.

The Importance of Being Earnest is being performed at the John Godber Centre on Ogle Street, Hucknall, from Thursday 21st May to Saturday 23rd May at 7-30pm each night.
