Hucknall group vows to fight on for the town

At a meeting in Hucknall’s Sweet Cafe, town resident Sandy Singleton stepped into the breach by becoming the acting chairman.

“I have offered myself as the sacrificial lamb because I do not want to see the group having to fold,” she said.

“Chris’s resignation has come as a shock to everybody. None of us saw it coming. But we need to keep up what Chris has set in motion and ensure that I Love Hucknall is still up and running.”

“So much has been done to get the group where it is. We shouldn’t let it go at all.”

In a statement published in Dispatch, Mr Williams said it was with great regret that he had stepped down.

He added that he had made this decision to accept a business opportunity that had huge potential and benefits. This would leave him with very limited time to devote to the group.

In accordance with Chris’s wishes, I Love Hucknall want as many retailers as possible to take part in their loyalty card scheme, which is aimed at boosting local trade.

The group are hoping for a big turnout at their next open meeting to be held at Broomhill Children’s Centre, Broomhill Road, Hucknall, next Wednesday (7th May) at 6 pm.

Hucknall’s proposed inner relief road and part-pedestrianisation of High Street will again be on the agenda.
