Horse stuck in mud rescued by Ashfield firefighters

A horse has been rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in mud.

A crew from Ashfield Fire Station was called to Winter Closes, off Main Road, Underwood just after 11am on Tuesday.

Special rescue teams from Tuxford and Highfields were also called to help the horse out of the mud.

A spokesman from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said large animal rescue gear was used during the incident.

The horse was lifted to safety and left in the care of a vet just before 1pm.
