A Mansfield-based charity supporting ex-services’ personnel is calling on folk to show their support veterans dealing with the problems of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) by taking part in a sponsored walk.
Mansfield’s Heroes Memorial Fund is staging its third annual walk from the Crich war memorial to the Nell Gwyn pub in Mansfield on 20th October.
“When we launched the Heroes Fund it was primarily to build the memorial in Carr Bank Park but the charity is also supporting veterans that may be experiencing problems in ‘Civvie Street’. Our focus at the moment is on supporting veterans that may be living with PTSD, which is why we are talking to the Trees Project in Pleasley,” said Graham Parker from the Heroes Fund.
The Heroes Fund has laid on buses to take walkers to Crich, leaving from the Sir John Cockle pub on Sutton Road at 8am.
Several pubs are supporting the walk and anyone can join the teams or walk as an individual. Sponsor forms are available from: The Nell Gwyn, Sir John Cockle, Bold Forrester, Cavendish Social Club, the Local and the Nags Head at Pleasley or by calling Bryan Hyatt on 07960 321716 or Deborah Smalley on 07792 963689
