Mansfield’s Heroes Memorial Fund has received backing from the UK’s largest independent brewing and pub retailing company, Marston’s, in its aim to raise funds to support local ex-servicemen and women.
The Burton-on-Trent based brewery has agreed to site one of the fund’s clothing and textile collection banks at the Sir John Cockle pub, Mansfield.
Pictured are Elaine Pownall, manager of the Sir John Cockle, and Hannah Cree, Marston’s area manager, using the bank.
It has been provided by the fund’s recycling company Savanna Rags International Ltd, which will make a substantial donation to the fund for every tonne of materials placed in the bank.
A spokesman for the Heroes’ Fund said: “We have two collection banks in Mansfield, the other at the Civic Centre. The funds we are raising go toward helping locally based ex-services organisations such as the Mercian Regiment Benevolent Fund, which is helping soldiers of the Regiment injured on operations in Afghanistan.”
The Heroes Fund can also arrange collections of clothing and textiles.
