Help needed for Berry Hill Park clean-up

Mansfield Rotarians are calling on townsfolk to roll up their sleeves and join in with a clean-up day at Berry Hill Park.

If you are a skilled strummer or know your way round a shovel and a pair of shears then the jewel in the crown of Mansfield needs you.

Members of Mansfield Rotary Club will be supervising during the clean-up on 27th September and hope the work will take no longer than a day if enough spare hands are made available.

Andy Hill, club president, said: “This is really just a case of trimming some paths and hedges.

“It is the time of year when most gardeners have a bit of a clean-up, and that is what we plan to do but the more help we can get the easier it will be.”

Work which needs doing on the park includes strimming and general tidying of hedges, path edges, the bandstand and a thorough litter pick.

Said Andy: “We just want to make the park as good as it can be for members of the public but need some help.

“There is a cafe there now - which is something people had been crying out for.

“There is an area where youngsters can build sand castles and more people using the park than ever before because of the improvements.”

All 12 Miss Mansfield finalists have already been recruited on the day to lend a hand and support their community.

If you would like to follow their example, please confirm your attendance by phoning 07837 026009.

The Rotarians will discuss volunteers’ skills to decide how best they can assist with the work on the day of the clean-up.
