Help Mansfield’s Paralympic swimmer achieve gold at Games

Ollie, who has Muscular Dystrophy, has overcome all odds to be the best at his game despite his condition.

With a mission to top his medal tally at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer and preparing for Rio 2016, Ollie has teamed up with The Mint to make his goal a reality.

Muscular Dystrophy is a muscle wasting condition that causes muscles to weaken over time, but that hasn’t stopped Ollie.

Despite continuous deterioration in his condition, Ollie trains six days a week in the pool at Watermeadows, Mansfield and two days a week in the gym, clocking up about 50,000 metres a week in training.

He is now appealing for the public to support him at a fundraising night on 11th May at The Mint. Tickets for the event will be £20 including food and entertainment from number one Queen Tribute act solo and look alike, Lee Joseph Jackson. The event starts at 7pm to 11pm and all proceeds from the tickets will help Ollie to train and attend the Games.

Faz Choudhury, owner of The Mint, said he is proud to support charity causes and the community.
