Healthy move for Ashfield children

A NEW bid to help Ashfield folk to lead a healthier lifestyle has been launched by Ashfield District Council and Everyone Active.

‘B Active – B Healthy’ is available for families with children aged four-15.

Each programme lasts for 10 weeks with one two-hour session per week, including a one-hour fun multi sports/ junior gym session (dependant on age) and one-hour practical nutrition session.

Additional free leisure centre activities will also be available exclusively for participants of ‘B Active – B Healthy’, as well as additional exercise options for parents/ guardians to get involved in if they wish to.

The first ‘B Active – B Healthy’ programmes will include sessions for children aged 7-10 and 11-15 onThursdays (starting 27th September), 5-7pm at Lammas Leisure Centre.

Sessions for four to six-year-olds will be on offer at Hucknall Leisure Centre on Mondays..

Future programmes will soon be available at other Everyone Active Leisure Centres. The cost to attend all programmes is £2 per session or £16 up front for the whole 10 weeks.

Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Culture and Housing, Councillor Steve Carroll said: “B Active B Healthy is a perfect opportunity for families to get support to increase their activity levels or learn how to eat more healthily in a fun, supportive environment. Feedback from our first ever programme was really positive with all families attending showing an improvement in their health and wellbeing by making small manageable lifestyle changes throughout the ten week programme”.
