A campaigner from Kirkby has delivered a petition urging candidates at the General Election to look after the National Health Service (NHS).
Laura Granger (56), of Richmond Road, has collected 837 signatures from the Kirkby area, and she invited all Ashfield candidates to receive the petition last Saturday morning. Only Simon Ashcroft, of UKIP, turned up.
Laura, who is a member of the nationwide campaigning community, 38 Degrees, said: “I am concerned about the increasing privatisation of the NHS. Everyone, except the really well-off, needs the NHS. If it wasn’t there, what would we do?”
