Friends and family appeal to give terminally-ill Mansfield mum her dream wedding

Friends and family of an '˜amazing' Mansfield Woodhouse woman who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer are appealing for help so she can marry her partner.

Emma Brown, 38, was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier in the year, but recently received the devastating news that the cancer had spread.

Friend Zoe Holmes said: “She’s an amazing woman and we all want to give her her dream wedding.”

Emma, who has two daughters and a grandson, worked at King’s Mill hospital as a cleaner before her diagnosis.

Zoe said: “She’s amazing and so strong, we hope to give her the day she deserves.

“She has a heart of gold and would do anything to help anyone. She’s a true Mansfield Woodhouse Lass, and the community has pulled together for such a sad situation.”

Zoe added: “It’s no age to be diagnosed with a terminal illness, and we really want to giver Emma and Darren the best day they could dream of. It’s a very cruel world.”

To raise money for the wedding, Zoe and Emma’s friends and family will be holding a fun day at the Sunnydale Inn, Mansfield Woodhouse on Saturday July 21.

There will be a car wash, tombola, raffle and kid’s entertainment.

Zoe added that they would like the day to be as fun as possible, and that Emma is staying positive and cheerful.

Emma and Darren’s family and friends are appealing for any help with the wedding.

Zoe said: “We are appealing for anything to make their special day one to remember.”
