A ward at King’s Mill Hospital is to be converted into a room full of memorabilia from the 1940s onwards to help elderly dementia patients. Ward 41 is to be furnished with newspapers, photographs, tins and other associated items from the period after it was found that it can help trigger past memories in patients.
Joanne Lewis Hodgkinson, ward leader, said: “This room will be invaluable to patients by acting as point of interest and a fantastic conversation starter.
“It will provide them with the chance to have a cup of tea and chat about the old times.”
People can submit photos and artefacts from the period by phoning 01623 22515 extension number 2715.
