Blood donor appointments

ASHFIELD residents are being urged to keep giving blood throughout August following an increase in missed appointments during the summer months.

With the summer holidays in full swing, the NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) has noticed an increase in donors not turning up for their appointments and are asking those who have booked a slot to keep it or inform staff if they cannot make it.

Holly Mason, lead donor relations manager for NHSBT, said: “We need to collect 800 units of blood every week to help patients in Nottinghamshire hospitals alone, so if you can’t keep your appointment then we need to make sure we can offer it up to someone else.”

Blood donor sessions are being held at the Lammas Leisure Centre tomorrow from 1pm to 3.15pm and 4pm to 7pm, and at Mansfield Civic Centre on Tuesday from 11.15am to 12.45pm, 2pm to 4pm and 4.45pm to 7pm.
