Health survey to start soon

A series of studies are to be carried out across Derbyshire to improve residents’ health and reduce inequalities.

Derbyshire County Council’s health impact assessments look at influences on health of income, education and employment as well as lifestyle and genetics to help plan new policies and services.

Coun Dave Allen, Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Communities, said: “While the health of Derbyshire residents is generally good, there is great inequality in terms of quality of life and life expectancy.

“The more information we have available to us the better to help us understand how to tackle these issues.”

The county council took over responsibility for public health in April.
