HAVE YOUR SAY: Robin Hood train line to be replaced by buses during the summer

TRAIN bosses have today revealed that the Robin Hood train line that connects the north of Nottinghamshire to Nottingham will be replaced by a bus service during the summer.

Nottingham railway station is undergoing major redevelopment work and a £100m project to rebuild the rail infrastructure around the city is scheduled to begin shortly.

As a result of this major work being carried out by Network Rail, there will be significant changes to East Midlands Trains services on routes to and from Nottingham between Saturday 20th July and Sunday 25th August.

One of the affected routes is the Robin Hood Line, which runs between Nottingham and Worksop via Bulwell, Hucknall, Newstead, Kirkby, Sutton Parkway, Mansfield, Mansfield Woodhouse, Shirebrook, Langwith-Whaley Thorns, Creswell and Whitwell.

A frequent bus service will run in place of the normal train service for the duration of the work - with four buses an hour running between Nottingham and Mansfield/Mansfield Woodhouse and an hourly service running from Mansfield to Worksop.

Other services affected include the Nottingham to London St Pancras route, which will see train services to/from London starting and terminating at East Midlands Parkway, with three services an hour running between there and London.

A frequent bus service will operate approximately every ten minutes (with more buses at times of peak demand) between Nottingham and East Midlands Parkway to connect with train services to London.
