Have you seen Josh Cotton?

Police are still searching for a man who went missing from the boat he lived on at Sawley marina.

Josh Cotton, 22, spent the last year living on his narrow boat called The Spirit which is moored on the south side of the marina. He was last seen at around 4pm on Friday March 11 and despite intensive appeals and searches, there have been no further sightings.

Officers from Leicestershire Police stopped and spoke to motorists and pedestrians as they entered and left the Marina a week after Josh was last seen. Sergeant Martyn Robinson and his team handed out leaflets bearing Josh’s photographs in an attempt to jog people’s memories and trace anyone who may have seen him.

Sgt Robinson also made an appeal to Josh and anyone who may know where he is to come forward and to speak to the police.

Police divers have already searched the water around Josh’s boat (on Wednesday 16 March) and a police helicopter has carried out searches of the area around the marina using thermal imaging cameras.

Most of the 117 boat owners who live on site have already been spoken to. Others are being contacted by police and asked to travel to the marina and to carry out checks of their own crafts.

His sister, Abi Lloyd, said: “We just want to know that Josh is safe and well. It’s completely out of character for him to go missing, or to go this long without contacting any of the family, and with every day that passes we become more and more concerned.”
