The rule is one of the main elements of a hard-hitting, new order that the district council wants to enforce to replace the current Dog Control Orders, Designated public Protection Orders and Gating Orders in the town.

The PSPO will also introduce powers to disperse in the town centre and Nottingham Road Leisure Park.

It will introduce a duty that anyone walking a dog must have the means to pick up the dog faeces and to prohibit smoking in childrens’ play areas.

It also will prevent access over a public highway at Alfred Court, prohibit urination, defecation and spitting in any public place.

Residents have been given until midnight on October 19th to have their say on the new order, which can be viewed at the Civic Centre, Chesterield Road South, Mansfield or Mansfield library , Westgate, Mansfield. More information on www.mansfield.gov.uk.
