One of Mansfield’s most successful business leaders is to join a group at Westminster that encourages responsible policies among companies.

Malcolm Hall is the managing director of Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies Ltd, based on the Anglia Way Industrial Estate.

Hall-Fast was recently chosen as the Mansfield constituency’s Responsible Business Champion by the town’s MP, Ben Bradley, and then named in the top 20 responsible businesses in the UK.

Now Mr Hall has been invited to become a member of the All-Party Parliamentarian Corporate Responsibility Group (APCRG), which comprises almost 200 people from within Parliament and business.

He said: “This group is quite influential in policy making, so I am pleased to be asked to join it.”

The APCRG’s purpose is to promote debate and understanding of corporate responsibility, which is defined as delivering not only economic results but also environmental and social wellbeing benefits within the community.

Mr Hall, who was made an MBE in the 2016 New Year’s Honours for his services to business, added: “I am immensely proud that, as a relatively small, independent, family-run business, Hall-Fast has been able to give back to the communities in Mansfield and further afield.

“We have done this through community-based sponsorship with sports clubs such as Paviors Rugby Club and with Nottingham rugby’s delivery of high-quality coaching in schools.

“We have also supported Mansfield’s Fountaindale School and promoted the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, so I look forward to putting across my views within the Parliamentary group.”

The APCRG holds events each year to exchange views on relevant and topical issues. Recent meetings have covered subjects such as business-education partnerships, health and wellbeing in the workplace, responsible investment, engaging with employees and employment policies.

Future meetings will focus on topics such as skills training, work placements and apprenticeships.
