Gritting teams will be out in Nottinghamshire tonight as temperatures are set to plummet across the region.

The county council’s crews will be covering all major routes at about 7pm ahead of the big freeze.

This comes after a busy weekend for the 23 crews, as they took to the roads for the county’s first snowfall of the year.

With temperatures set to fall again tonight, the crews are due to take to the roads again this evening, although no more snow is expected.

The council currently has around 15,000 tonnes of gritting salt to use.
