Grant helps kit out Oaklands Centre kitchen

The Oaklands Centre has kitted out its kitchen thanks to a community grant from The Mansfield Building Society.

The building society donated £500 through its community support scheme to help improve the cooking facilities.

The centre, based in Warsop, is made up of a 20-bedroom complex and provides a home and respite care for adults with learning difficulties. The Oaklands complex cares for its residents and aims to make them as self-reliant, happy and independent as possible.

Alison Collier, centre administrator, said: “It’s wonderful that The Mansfield Building Society gives back to its local community. The money has gone towards new kitchen equipment, which is much needed for the centre.

“Staff can now spend more time with the residents and get back into the kitchen and cook simple meals together. It means we can provide a further level of care, and help residents become more self-reliant.

“The donation will go a long way.”

Carole Dallison, from The Mansfield, visited the centre and said: “I can see how the new kitchen equipment will positively impact everyone here. It shows how much our funding helps our local community.”
