THE Hodsock Priory tourist attraction will proudly play host to the Shakespeare’s Globe theatre for three nights later this month when the prestigious theatre performs the comedy classic ‘As You Like It’.

And, whilst a warm welcome will be extended to the whole team, it is particularly fitting that Nottinghamshire actress Emma Pallant, will be in the cast playing a dual role of Phoebe and Jacques, making it an extra special occasion. Emma, who is from Nottingham, left University and pursued her dreams of becoming an actress.

A glittering career so far has seen her enjoy regular appearance at RSC in Stratford upon Avon and, whilst theatre is her first love, she has also appeared in a host of TV programmes.

Delighted Emma said: “As a Nottinghamshire lady it is particularly poignant for me to be performing in my home county on the first occasion that The Globe has visited.

“Performing outdoor is always a special experience and unique to each venue as we take the theatre into the crowds.

“The splendour of Hodsock will undoubtedly make this a superb occasion for both the performers and spectators.”

‘As You Like It’ tells the tale of a group of people who venture into a forest and discover love and laughter and a lot about themselves whilst they are there.

Whilst there is an underlying element of seriousness to the play the overwhelming theme is one of comedy, fun and delight making it a winner with all who watch it.

“We are delighted to be welcoming such a prestigious theatre company, and a local lady, to Hodsock during our inaugural year of outdoor picnic theatre,” said George Buchanan, general manager and ninth generation resident Hodsock Priory.

“It will be three nights of wonderful entertainment that shall see the grounds of Hodsock come to life like never before – it is a very exciting time for us here as we are on the cusp of a new era of Hodsock.”

The play runs from 28th to 30th June. Tickets are available by calling 01909 591204.

Refreshments will be available at the event but guests are invited to bring their own picnic, blankets and warm, waterproof clothing.

Hodsock Priory is available for events, conferences, meetings, weddings and short breaks. During 2011 an exciting programme of events is planned including music, theatre and fine dining, full details of which can be found by visiting Reservations for The Courtyard and any event can be made by calling 01909 591204.

In 2012 the famous ‘Hodsock Snowdrops’ will be celebrating its 21st anniversary where a programme of special events and attractions will be taking place.
