Float and fancy dress parades are to march through the village, led by the Seaforth Highlanders and joined by the Crystal Cheerleaders.

There will be also be quad bikes, a mini steam train, inflatables, children’s rides, ferret racing and a falconry display, as well as a bar and other refreshements.

The event starts at 12noon and entry is £1 per person.

The carnival dates as far back as the 1930s and ran until the mid-1980s before being brought back in 2011.

“We’re very excited to have Matthew coming along, who will be walking around meeting people, posing for pictures and signing autographs,” said Rachel Hibbert of organisers the Glapwell Community Development Group (GCDG).

“This is a lovely community event which really pulls the village together.”

Proceeds will be shared between the GCDG, to help fund next year’s event, and The Royal British Legion.
