Get off-road and get fit for Battle Batten campaign

Do you fancy taking to the track in a 4x4 off-road vehicle for some thrills and spills whilst supporting the Battle Batten Campaign?

Well now’s your chance!

On Sunday 3rd August at The Lockwell Hill Activity Centre, near Farnsfield, Nottingham Off-Road Events are holding a special day in support of the campaign.

Participants have the chance to join the fun for just £20 for a 20minute ride with passengers riding for £5 extra each. A percentage of the day will go to the fund.

There will also be fundraising stalls and further activities taking part during the day with all proceeds going the the Battle Batten with Freddie and Louie research fund.

Hardcore fitness fantatics or those who want to push their usual fitness class boundaries can take part in a Fit-a-Thon taking place at Aldercar Community Leisure Centre at Langley Mill on Saturday 2nd August.

Phil Coker of Impact Fitness will be supported by paratriathlete Phil Hogg from 10.30am-12.30pm.

On 9th August, Jackie Archer will be holding a tea and coffee morning at the Baptist Church on Watnall Road, Hucknall from 9.30am-2.30pm.

“There will be lots of homemade cakes too,” said Jackie. “Please come along and enjoy the refreshments for the campaign.”

Meanwhile the fundraising for Freddie and Louie Dawkins, of Annesley Road, Hucknall, continues to attract support from far and wide.

The two boys, who have the neurodegenerative Batten Disease, and their parents Andrew and Sarah, went along to meet the family of Craig Dowhan who organised a football tournament in their son’s memory for the campaign.

It was a very well attended event with friends and family of Craig taking part and supporting the day raising £1,352.66.

“We’re very humbled and touched that Chris and his family chose our campaign to benefit from their special day for Craig,” said Sarah. “We want to thank them for supporting our family at what is a very difficult time for their family.”
