A Mansfield man accused of attacking a woman who later died in hospital has now been told he faces a murder charge.
The 41-year-old was arrested and charged with GBH following an incident on Linden Street, Shirebrook, in August which left Carolyn Hyatt in a critical condition at Nottingham City Hospital.
Miss Hyatt, 43, of Redgate Close, Mansfield, died three weeks later.
Dunstan, also of Redgate Close, appeared at Derby Crown Court in September where it was heard that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had been unable to make a decision on whether the defendant would face a more serious charge.
At the time, a neuropathological examination was still required on Miss Hyatt’s body and said it could take 16 weeks for the results to be returned.
However, Dunstan has recently appeared again at Derby Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing where it was determined that the charge would be altered to murder.
The case has now been switched to Nottingham Crown court and he is due to appear at for another hearing on January 29. He remains remanded in custody.
