THIEVES have stolen a set of green metal gates from outside a golf course in Selston.

The heavy gates were unscrewed from their hinges and police believe the suspects would have needed to use a large vehicle to move them.

It happened at Selston Golf Club, in Langton Hollow, between 12 noon on Friday 2nd November and 2.30pm on Saturday 3rd November.

PC Andrew Harrison said: “The entrance to the golf course itself is on a busy main road which will be used by scores of motorists on a daily basis.

“The gates are clearly visible from the road so drivers may have seen someone acting suspiciously or a large vehicle parked outside the entrance.

“Scrap metal dealers may have also been offered the items for sale and I would urge anyone with information to call the police immediately.”

Each gate is three metres long and required three workmen and a JCB to fit them.

Witnesses should call PC Harrison on 101 extension 806 3663, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
